Jon W. Brassel
Mr. Brassel concentrates on products and professional liability and environmental litigation. He has recovered millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, professional liability and products liability. He is also National Counsel for several clients involved in multi-jurisdiction asbestos litigation. He has successfully defended multi-million dollar environmental cases in multiple jurisdictions.
Mr. Brassel has been recognized for his work in Personal Injury litigation as one of Maryland’s “Super Lawyers” in 2007-2017 and the only Maryland Corporate “Super Lawyer” in 2009 for environmental litigation. He was recognized in 2009 and 2010 by over 1000 attorneys surveyed in Anne Arundel County as the leading medical malpractice attorney in the area. He has also been voted as one of the top 100 trial lawyers in Maryland and is included in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar of Register of Preeminent Lawyers with an A-V rating. Mr. Brassel has also been voted by peers into the 2010 - 2017 editions of The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Personal Injury Litigation and included in Washington D.C.'s Best Lawyers 2010 Edition as appearing in The Washington Post and The Baltimore Sun. Mr. Brassel was voted the winner of the Best Attorney category in the 2010 Reader's Choice Capital poll. Mr. Brassel was recently selected by America's Top 100 Attorneys for a Lifetime Achievement award for his "lifetime of hard work, ethical standards and community enriching accomplishments that are inspiring among the legal profession."
Mr. Brassel graduated from Wake Forest University. (B.B.A. 1971). While at Wake Forest, Mr. Brassel was elected President of his fraternity, Vice President of the Senior Class and was awarded the Wall Street Journal Award for highest grades in the Business School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law. (J.D. 1975) where he was editor of the Law Review.
Mr. Brassel is admitted to the Maryland State Bar, United States District Court for the District of Maryland, United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits. Mr. Brassel is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Anne Arundel County Bar Association, a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation, American Board of Trial Advocates and the American Association for Justice.
He represents insureds for Travelers, St. Paul’s, CNA and Fireman's Fund in the asbestos defense litigation.
